Hikin' in Arches National Park, Moab (UT)

Left Springville Hwy 6 east over a 7500 foot pass through coal-mining country, about 30 miles from where a recent mining cave-in claimed the lives of 6 miners and 2 rescuers. Connected with I-70 at Green River, then 191 south to Moab Valley RV Park, $32/night but working WiFi. Spent the day driving and hiking in Arches National Park – beautiful red sandstone structures, many natural arches, quite impressive. Met a young couple from Connecticut moving to San Francisco, or as close as they can get that they can afford. No jobs lined up. She just graduated from college, he the year before. Dinner at Buck’s Grill where I had a double-cut porkchop and Marcia had Buffalo meatloaf—both very good, with leftovers for lunch the next day.
